240 + community and corporate volunteers worked together and hand-built 38 outdoor furniture pieces. Every piece that was built was donated to a local nonprofit organization.
With the help of 40 teams (240 + community and corporate volunteers) we were able to donate 38 outdoor furniture pieces to Capital Region Land Conservancy, Dorey Park Farmers Market, and Good Neighbor Village.

Every year, Hammers & Ales serves as our annual fundraising and every dollar raised, directly supports our Tools for Change mission. Our 10,000 sq foot tool-lending warehouse empowers over 530 + member agencies because of your donation of time and money!
This unique give-back experience revolves around teams coming together to hand-build outdoor furniture, selecting from either picnic tables or park benches. ToolBank provides all the necessary materials, tools, and expert guidance.
The tangible results? We donated 19 park benches and 19 picnic tables built by YOU to Capital Region Land Conservancy, Dorey Park Farmers Market, and Good Neighbor Village. A few hours spent using power tools and bonding with your crew transforms into a lasting impact within your community for current and future generations to enjoy.
But it's not just about the tools and building materials. Hammers & Ales is an outdoor celebration featuring music, local craft beverages, food trucks, tool-themed games, and even a splash pad! Come be apart of something bigger in 2024 - impact your community with one swing of the hammer at a time.
In 2023, 40 teams hand-built 45 pieces of outdoor furniture, including park benches, picnic tables, and dog houses. These outdoor furniture and placemaking features were donated to James River Park and the doghouses go to Ring Dog Rescue.
